This website is for owners of holiday cottages and it’s purpose is to introduce them to new ways to help market and promote their holiday homes. Whilst it has been written primarily for owners in Northumberland it is in fact equally applicable to any cottage in the UK.
We have kept each post brief and to the point. There are no distractions, just plenty of interesting advice.
Whilst all the articles are interesting we would suggest the top five are :
1. Google places. Your only chance to compete with the larger agencies and directories. It’s free and low maintenance.
2. Repeat visitors. The only way you will get the high occupancy rates. Whilst mainly free the marketing work here can be time consuming.
3. Review websites like Tripadvisor. These review websites are both a problem and a challenge. You have to learn how to manage them to your advantage.
4.Your own website. It takes time to get going and rarely will bring enough business to replace agencies. But you can be up and running for nothing or for a minimal cost. The sooner you commit the better.
Why are you explaining all these marketing secrets, the advice would cost many thousands of pounds in consultancy fees?
Answer: We know that 2013 is going to be a hard year for cottage owners. Using some of these tips will definitely help improve your bookings. You can save a lot of money by doing it yourself but be warned some of the advice will take up a lot of your time. Alternatively you can pay a marketing professional or persuade your holiday letting agent to help.
